In collaboration with Leti Arts (Accra, Ghana), WEB.foundation developed the first chapter and demo for My Jorley in 2016. My Jorley is a populair term among Ghananian youth and it translates into ‘my darling’. In this mobile game particularly boys are challenged to reflect on how they deal with issues of sexuality. From 2017 on, WEB.foundation continues working on the development of new chapters in the game, together with Leti Arts. Avans University of Applied Sciences joins our team for research into the impact and efficacy of the game.
My Jorley is being further developed for Ghana. Numbers on sexual and reproductive health and rights in Ghana are worrisome. With My Jorley, WEB.foundation promotes the development of healthy sexual relationships in a modern way with Ghanaian youth. Specific topics that the game targets include teenage pregnancies, (illegal/unsafe) abortions, sexual abuse and transactional sex. This game particularly highlights the role and responsibilities of boys and men.
By playing My Jorley, young people are challenged to relfect on their own attitudes and choices, and the consequences of these choices. By making positive choices in the game, players can score points. This is also done through exciting mini-games. My Jorley is available through Google Playstore for all mobile Android devices.
